Alcock Tarn Walk, Grasmere Great Langdale
Starting in the lakeside village of Grasmere, this circular climbs to a small tarn, a beautiful place to have lunch. Winding through trees to views of the valley, lakes & surrounding fells, take in history from miners & coffin-bearers. Steep in places.
At 5.4 km, this is a comfortable half-day walk for most hikers. At an average walking pace, plan for roughly 1 hour and 13 minutes.
The route forms a complete loop, returning you to where you started. This makes logistics simple and the outing entirely self-contained.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
