Erie Canalway Trail (Brockport to Rochester)
Off-road with vistas of rural landscapes and canal boats, bridges and gates. Approaching Rochester the canal is below grade with a wooded buffer. The end is a bridge over the Genesee River with the Erie Canal alongside doing the same at grade.
At 30.9 km, this is a challenging full-day or multi-stage hike. At an average pace, the route takes roughly 6 hours and 52 minutes to complete.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. The trail is officially waymarked as ECT, so look out for the trail markers along the way.
This is a Local Walking Network (LWN) trail — a community-level route perfect for exploring the immediate surroundings, popular with locals and visitors alike.
