Remutaka Rail Trail
The route published by GWRC is from Kaitoke car park to Cross Creek car park. To make a network the creator has added access at the end of Hutt River Trail, Te Marua to Kaitoke car park and from Cross Creek car park to Featherston.
At 37.7 km, this is a demanding long-distance hike that may be split across multiple days. Experienced hikers typically take around 8 hours and 23 minutes to complete it end-to-end.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. The trail is officially waymarked as RRT, so look out for the trail markers along the way.
