Te Araroa - 02 Auckland - n Totara Park, Wairere Road, Manurewa to Bombay

Mainly urban roads to beyond Papakura. After than mainly open country with a hill to climb. This route follows the maps issued November 2018. An earlier route through the Hunua Ranges is now avoided as a result of Kauri die-back disease.

At 25.3 km, this is a challenging full-day or multi-stage hike. At an average pace, the route takes roughly 5 hours and 37 minutes to complete.

The route forms a complete loop, returning you to where you started. This makes logistics simple and the outing entirely self-contained. The trail is officially waymarked as TA02n, so look out for the trail markers along the way.
