The Burway Loop: A Walk to the Top of the Long Mynd, Carding Mill Valley
This challenging circular walk takes you to the head of Carding Mill Valley and up to the highest point of the Long Mynd. A rugged route up a steep incline to the top of the hill and down narrow footpaths in places with steep drops on one side.
Covering 9.5 km, this is a satisfying walk that most reasonably fit hikers will complete in about 2 hours and 6 minutes.
This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start.
Part of the Local Walking Network (LWN), this trail is ideal for exploring the neighbourhood landscape. It is typically well-known to local walkers and offers an authentic sense of place.
