Wansfell from Troutbeck Walk, Windermere

Follow this challenging circular trail along old tracks and footpaths from Troutbeck to the fells. You're rewarded with outstanding views over Windermere and Ambleside from the top of Wansfell. Some rocky, uneven ground.

A 10.2 km full-day trail that rewards walkers with a proper day out. Budget roughly 2 hours and 16 minutes at a steady pace.

This route forms a near-complete loop: the start and finish are very close together, so only minimal transport is needed to get back. It combines the convenience of a circular walk with a slightly varied return.

As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
