Beacon Hill, Juniper Bank and Aston Wood Walk, Central Chilterns

Starting at Aston Rowant NNR with views of the Oxford Vale, this walk will take you through acres of chalk grassland & wild flowers. Juniper Bank & Aston Wood then offers the chance to spot flowers, butterflies, birds, deer & fungi.

This 7.4 km route sits in the sweet spot for a half-day outing — long enough to feel rewarding, short enough to leave the afternoon free. Expect around 1 hour and 38 minutes.

The route nearly completes a loop, with start and end points within easy walking distance of each other. Minimal logistics required.

As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
