Burnt Mill Trail (red)
Burnt Mill Trail explores “Maple Island" area, tributaries of the Mechescatauxin (a.k.a. Sleeper) Branch and the Mullica River. Users may encounter rare plants, reptiles, amphibians, dragonflies and damselflies during warmer months.
Covering 18.8 km, this is a substantial hike requiring a reasonable base fitness. Most walkers complete it in about 4 hours and 11 minutes.
This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start. Look for the BMT trail markings to stay on the official route.
Part of the Local Walking Network (LWN), this trail is ideal for exploring the neighbourhood landscape. It is typically well-known to local walkers and offers an authentic sense of place.
