California Mission Trail - stage 02 Mission San Luis Rey to Mission San Juan Capistrano

from Oceanside, through US Marine Corp Camp Pendelton

This 59.7 km route is a major undertaking — excellent fitness, reliable navigation, and multi-day planning are required. End-to-end time is roughly 13 hours and 15 minutes.

The route nearly completes a loop, with start and end points within easy walking distance of each other. Minimal logistics required. The trail is officially waymarked as CMT02, so look out for the trail markers along the way.

As a Regional Walking Network (RWN) route, this trail is maintained and waymarked at the regional level. It typically connects towns, villages, and natural highlights across the wider area.
