Hodge Close to Cathedral Quarry, Tarn Hows and Coniston
A scenic walk to Little Langdale & Cathedral Quarry with views over the valley & fells. Loose gravel, gradual up & downhill slopes with little elevation gain. The steepest section is the access point into Cathedral Quarry. Paths can be flooded after rain.
Covering just 2.2 km, this is a gentle outing perfect for families or beginners. Allow roughly 30 minutes.
This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
