Hudson Valley Greenway Trail (Poughkeepsie to New Paltz)
This route begins a walk on an historic railroad bridge high above the Hudson River. The route continues runs west on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. The final 2 miles into downtown New Paltz, is an on-road section.
At 15.5 km, this is a solid full-day hike. At an average walking pace you can expect to complete the route in roughly 3 hours and 26 minutes.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. Follow the HVGT waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
