Kennet and Avon Canal Trail
Rivers linked by a canal. The name refers to the entire navigable length. From Bristol the way is the Avon. The canal is from Bath to Newbury. From there to Reading the way is the Kennet. 53 locks to Summit Pound (150 m asl) and 54 down to Reading.
A 14.5 km full-day trail that rewards walkers with a proper day out. Budget roughly 3 hours and 13 minutes at a steady pace.
This is a point-to-point route, running from one location to another. Plan ahead for return transport, or consider reversing the route on your way back. Follow the K&A waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
This trail forms part of the Regional Walking Network (RWN), linking local communities and natural features across the region. Waymarking is managed at the regional level.
