Pillar Trail from Wasdale Head, North Lakes Outdoors

This challenging walk involves a vertical ascent of over 800m so will test the stamina of most walkers. But it's well worth the effort because few places in the Lake District have views that can compete with those offered from the Pillar summit.

At 13.3 km, this is a solid full-day hike. At an average walking pace you can expect to complete the route in roughly 2 hours and 58 minutes.

The route forms a complete loop, returning you to where you started. This makes logistics simple and the outing entirely self-contained.
