Sam's River Loop Trail
Sam's River Loop is a level day hike through different ages and stages of temperate rain forest, but winter storms often damage this trail, so you may have to scramble over fallen trees and other obstacles!
A compact 4.6 km route ideal for a relaxed morning out. At an easy pace, plan for about 1 hour and 2 minutes.
This route forms a near-complete loop: the start and finish are very close together, so only minimal transport is needed to get back. It combines the convenience of a circular walk with a slightly varied return. Follow the SRL waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
