Kennet and Avon Canal Trail
Rivers linked by a canal. The name refers to the entire navigable length. From Bristol the way is the Avon. The canal is from Bath to Newbury. From there to Reading the way is the Kennet. 53 locks to Summit Pound (150 m asl) and 54 down to Reading.
This 32.8 km route is a serious undertaking — strong fitness and proper gear are recommended. Expect around 7 hours and 17 minutes at a steady pace.
Point-to-point in layout, this trail takes you from A to B across the landscape. Consider your return logistics before heading out. Look for the K&A trail markings to stay on the official route.
