Wairakau Stream Track

After the track road out of Totara North, the trail is T2 with roots and rutted sections; on the approach to Kairara Rock / Dukes Nose, there are two pitches that are secured with metal poles that require scrambling and are T3 classification

A 5.4 km half-day trail that offers a balanced outing without demanding too much. Budget around 1 hour and 12 minutes.

This is a point-to-point route, running from one location to another. Plan ahead for return transport, or consider reversing the route on your way back.

As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
