C360e Waimakariri Braids

Waimakariri is a braided river, a very special river environment, and a home for some of our rarest birds. Check out the BRaid website, which explains in more detail the special ecology of our braided rivers and how we can protect it. Around 7 – 8 hrs.

At 19.6 km, this is a solid full-day hike. At an average walking pace you can expect to complete the route in roughly 4 hours and 21 minutes.

As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. Follow the C360e waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.

As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
