Clytha and Coed y Bwnydd walk, East Wales
Ramble through an 18th-century estate, taking in the River Usk & Coed y Bwnydd – the largest & best preserved hillforts in Monmouthshire. There are views of the Sugar Loaf, Usk Valley & Clytha Castle, one of Wales's most outstanding 18th-century follies.
At 13.4 km, this is a solid full-day hike. At an average walking pace you can expect to complete the route in roughly 2 hours and 58 minutes.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
