Ditchling Beacon to Devil's Dyke, South Downs walk, Sussex East

This walk takes in one of the most stunning sections of the South Downs Way. Spring & Summer bring rich plant life thanks to the chalk soil, forming unique grassland habitat. Great bus links from Brighton. Mostly flat until Pyecombe where it gets steep.

At 9.2 km, this is a comfortable half-day walk for most hikers. At an average walking pace, plan for roughly 2 hours and 3 minutes.

As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way.
