Erie Canalway Trail (Middleport to Albion)
The stonedust (finely-ground, compacted limestone) path is on the north side of the Erie Canal with sweeping vistas of agricultural fields and rural landscapes, and water views of boats and canal bridges and gates.
Covering 30.3 km, this demanding trail is best tackled by experienced walkers in good condition. Budget roughly 6 hours and 44 minutes or consider splitting it across two days.
This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start. Follow the ECT waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
