Haw River Land Trail
The Haw River Trail is a paddle and hiking trail along the Haw River, which is managed by a partnership of local governments and the State of North Carolina. Half of the land trail is also a portion of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
This 23.4 km route is a serious undertaking — strong fitness and proper gear are recommended. Expect around 5 hours and 12 minutes at a steady pace.
Point-to-point in layout, this trail takes you from A to B across the landscape. Consider your return logistics before heading out. Follow the HRT waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
This trail forms part of the Regional Walking Network (RWN), linking local communities and natural features across the region. Waymarking is managed at the regional level.
