Mountains-to-Sea Trail: Richardson-Taylor Preserve
The Mountains-to-Sea Trail is a developing long distance hiking trail, which connects the Great Smokys to the Outer Banks. The trail is an official unit of the NC State Park System, and it is supported by the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
At 8.3 km, this is a comfortable half-day walk for most hikers. At an average walking pace, plan for roughly 1 hour and 51 minutes.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. Look for the MST trail markings to stay on the official route.
