Red Rocks
unusual rock formation created when an outcrop of ancient volcanic pillow lava was embedded in younger greywacke, along with red and green siltstone. A scientific reserve created in 1972 after growing public concern about quarrying in the area.
Covering just 3.8 km, this is a gentle outing perfect for families or beginners. Allow roughly 50 minutes.
This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start. Look for the RRCW trail markings to stay on the official route.
A Regional Walking Network (RWN) route, this trail weaves through the regional landscape connecting villages, viewpoints, and countryside.
