Tablelands - Off Trail Hike
Half a billion years ago, ancient continents collided, building the Appalachian Mountain chain. In Tablelands, it exposed the mantle of Earth. More that 400 million years of erosion revealed the Earth's inner soul: a surreal barren, orange landscape.
At 9.1 km, this is a comfortable half-day walk for most hikers. At an average walking pace, plan for roughly 2 hours and 1 minutes.
As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. Look for the OTT trail markings to stay on the official route.
