A52 - Mergozzo - Bracchio - Vercio - Monte Faiè

From Mergozzo lake to Monte Faiè the initial chestnut trees give way up to the beech trees while you gain altitude on the ancient cobbled mule track to the Vercio Hermitage and then on to the ridge with breathtaking views of the Gulf Borromeo and Stresa

As a linear trail, this route has distinct start and end points. Return transport is worth arranging in advance unless you plan to walk back the same way. Look for the A52 trail markings to stay on the official route.
