Erie Canalway Trail (Brockport to Rochester)
Off-road with vistas of rural landscapes and canal boats, bridges and gates. Approaching Rochester the canal is below grade with a wooded buffer. The end is a bridge over the Genesee River with the Erie Canal alongside doing the same at grade.
A 30.9 km long-distance challenge suited to experienced hikers. Most complete it in around 6 hours and 52 minutes.
This is a point-to-point route, running from one location to another. Plan ahead for return transport, or consider reversing the route on your way back. Follow the ECT waymarkers throughout to stay on the official trail line.
As a Local Walking Network (LWN) route, this trail has a strong community character. It serves both regular local walkers and visitors discovering the area for the first time.
