Hamilton Peak Trail #109

The Hamilton Butte Lookout was built in 1929. The lookout was abandoned in the 1960s. Look for sections of phone line left along this trail. This historic phone line linked the lookout with the world below.

Covering just 1.5 km, this is a gentle outing perfect for families or beginners. Allow roughly 20 minutes.

This linear trail moves from one end to the other without looping back. A return journey by transport — or retracing the path — is needed to get back to the start. The trail is officially waymarked as 118, so look out for the trail markers along the way.

This is a Local Walking Network (LWN) trail — a community-level route perfect for exploring the immediate surroundings, popular with locals and visitors alike.
