Erie Canalway Trail (Amherst to Lockport)
From the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village in Amherst and follows the Erie Canal, passing through woods, fields, and water views of boats and wildlife. Ends beside the dramatic “Flight of Five Locks” in central Lockport.
A 11.7 km full-day trail that rewards walkers with a proper day out. Budget roughly 2 hours and 35 minutes at a steady pace.
This is a point-to-point route, running from one location to another. Plan ahead for return transport, or consider reversing the route on your way back. The trail is officially waymarked as ECT, so look out for the trail markers along the way.
